Expert Pick
CBS Sports Tacitus

Sportline’s Jody Demling, via CBS Sports, is expecting big things from Tacitus in the upcoming third leg of the Triple Crown. For Demling, Tacitus is a tasty pick for bettors despite the  horse being winless in the Triple Crown. Trained by William Mott and from the stable of Juddmonte Farms, Inc., Tacitus finished third at the 2019 Kentucky Derby and skipped the 2019 Preakness Stakes, giving it fresher legs for the 2019 Belmont Stakes. Prior to the Derby, Tacitus had three-straight wins, including a vuctory at the Tampa Bay Derby (Grade 2 stakes) and the Wood Memorial (Grade 2 stakes). Tacitus is the odds on to win the Belmont Stakes this year with a price of +250 to conclude the Triple Crown season with a bang. Demling’s Triple Crown record includes his picking correctly nine Preakness Stakes-winning horses over the last 15 editions of the race.

Bleacher Report

Expert Pick
Steve Silverman Tacitus

No surprises here. For Steve Silverman is the top ranked horse among all expected to gallop in Elmont, New York. Tacitus is coming off a long layoff, as his group intentionally missed racing at Pimlico Park, thus making fatigue a non-factor for the 2019 Belmont Stakes. Mott has been happy with how Tacitus has fared during workouts, and hopefully for him, the three-year-old colt will be able to bring it on June 8. Tacitus is an explosive horse, a quality that suits the Belmont Stakes, where speed is the name of the game. Jose Ortiz will be on top of Tacitus on race day at Belmont Park. Ortiz has 105 wins in 571 starts. He also has 100 seconds and 87 thirds.

Expert Horses to watch
Mia Zanzucchi Tacitus, Master Fencer

Mia Zanzucchi has recently published an informative piece on the upcoming 2019 Belmont Stakes. She did not reveal any specific horse she thinks will come out on top at the race, but she mentioned Tacitus and Master Fencer as two horses to keep a close eye on. At this point, it’s pretty much given that Tacitus is the horse to beat on June 8. Master Fencer, on the other hand, is some sort of bold pick for anyone who’s going to lay money on the Japanese-bred colt. Master Fencer finished sixth at the 2019 Kentucky Derby, and is carrying odds of +800 to win the third leg of the Triple Crown. That was a solid performance at the Derby for Master of Fencer, consdering that he had to cover 6,600 miles of travel from Japan to the US. More acclimated to US surrounding, Master Fencer could put up a much better account of himself at the Belmont Stakes.

Expert Pick
Ryan Simpson Owendale

Ryan Simpson has a different pick for the 2019 Belmont Stakes winner. For Simpson, it’s going to be Owendale, who’s going to give his owner the August Belmont Trophy. Owendale had a podium finish at the 2019 Preakness Stakes, placing third at the race. Prior to that, he won the Lexington (Grade 3 stakes), where he gained believers in his ability to blow the competition out of the water.
