Don\u2019t expect them to make the same mistake twice, though.<\/p>\n<p>The Hokies showed just how good they are by pounding the Hurricanes, 37-16, and holding them to just 97 rushing yards (excluding sacks). Jerod Evans has quietly been one of the most effective passers in the country, while Pitt\u2019s pass defense has been pretty atrocious. The Hokies are also capable of stopping the run, which is bad news for the Panthers\u2019 ground-oriented attack.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writer\u2019s Prediction:<\/strong>\u00a0Virginia Tech\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>-4.5<\/strong><\/a>)\u00a0takes care of business with a 30-21 road win.<\/p>\n<h3>California (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>+15<\/strong><\/a>) vs. USC (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>-15<\/strong><\/a>) \u2013 10:30 PM ET<\/h3>\n<p>Sam Darnold has been a godsend for USC. Since the freshman took over at quarterback, the Trojans have gone 3-1, including three wins in a row. After back-to-back 350-plus yard, three-touchdown games against Arizona State and Colorado, Darnold threw five touchdowns in a 48-14 thrashing of Arizona in Tuscon.<\/p>\n<p>But two-plus-touchdowns is a lot to cover against a Cal team that can score a ton on just about anyone. Top receiver Chad Hansen missed the Oregon game due to injury, and they still lit up the Ducks for 52 points. But as bad as the offense has looked at times, they could have a shot at making the World\u2019s Largest Cocktail Party a tad more competitive.<\/p>\n<p>With freshman Jacob Eason\u2019s struggles passing the ball, the Bulldogs will need to run the football to stand any chance. Luckily for them, this Florida front hasn\u2019t been quite as dominant as in past years. Georgia also has a capable enough defense to make this a close, grind-it-out sort of battle in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writer\u2019s Prediction:<\/strong>\u00a0Georgia (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\">+7.5<\/a><\/strong>)\u00a0grinds all the way to a\u00a0close 24-17 loss.<\/p>\n<h3>Northwestern (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>+26<\/strong><\/a>) vs. #6 Ohio State (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>-26<\/strong><\/a>) \u2013 3:30 PM ET<\/h3>\n<p>After last weekend\u2019s stunning 24-21 loss at Penn State, conventional wisdom suggests Ohio State is primed for a big bounce-back performance in its next game, which happens to be at home.<\/p>\n<p>However, Northwestern is nowhere near the doormat it looked when it was losing to Western Michigan and Illinois State (at home!) in Weeks 1 and 2. We have some doubts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writer\u2019s Prediction:<\/strong>\u00a0Wisconsin wins, but Nebraska (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>+7<\/strong><\/a>)\u00a0keeps it within a touchdown.<\/p>\n<h3>#15 Auburn (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>-4<\/strong><\/a>) vs. Ole Miss (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>+4<\/strong><\/a>) \u2013 7:15 PM ET<\/h3>\n<p>Auburn re-announced itself as a legit SEC power in a big way by demolishing Arkansas by 53 points last\u00a0Saturday. Offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee has re-energized this Tigers offense, which just set the SEC record with 543 rushing yards. Meanwhile, the Rebels (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbnation.com\/college-football\/2016\/10\/22\/13369330\/leonard-fournette-ole-miss-hit\" target=\"_blank\">literally<\/a>) just got run over by a returning Leonard Fournette in a 38-21 loss to LSU.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers have a similar combination of terrific ground game and capable passing defense to effectively neutralize Ole Miss\u2019 explosive offense, even in Oxford.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writer\u2019s Prediction:<\/strong>\u00a0The Auburn (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>-4<\/strong><\/a>) rushing machine rolls along against the Rebels in a 34-28 Tigers win.<\/p>\n<h3>#3 Clemson (<a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>-4<\/strong><\/a>) vs. #12 Florida State (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/topbet.eu\/sportsbook\/football\/ncaa\" target=\"_blank\">+4<\/a><\/strong>) \u2013 8:00 PM ET<\/h3>\n<p>Clemson has been sleepwalking through much of this season, and really should have lost its last game against North Carolina State\u00a0if not for\u00a0#collegekickers.
