He lasted just three innings and gave up just one hit with no earned runs. His relief appearances have not been more mixed, though. The Japanese righty has been wildly inconsistent this season, as evidenced by his 7-9 record and 5.37 ERA. His last three starts have been particularly concerning. He has a 6.00 ERA in those three games, all of which the Yankees lost.<\/p>\n<p>Tanaka has been particularly troubled by the Rays this season. In two starts against them, Tanaka has given up 13 earned runs in just 5.2 innings, a hideous 20.65 ERA.
