Radwa\u0144ska will begin her title defense in New Haven with fresher legs than her opponent, thanks to a first-round bye. It\u2019s hard to question Radwa\u0144ska\u2019s motivation here, as she\u2019s yet to win a title this year.<\/p>\n<p>Behind Radwa\u0144ska in the seeding is Cibulkov\u00e1, who\u2019s also in search of her first tournament victory this year. Ranked 11<sup>th<\/sup> in the world, Cibulkov\u00e1 is looking to bounce back from a sorry exit this week in Cincinnati, where she fell prey to Johanna Konta in the third round of the Western &amp; Southern Open.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sleeper: Caroline Wozniacki<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Is it unfair to Wozniacki that she\u2019s not even seeded in this tournament?\u00a0 After all, it wasn\u2019t that long ago when she reigned for four straight years in New Haven from 2008 to 2011. Well, actually, that seems to be a bit ancient in tennis years. But Wozniacki\u2019s winning pedigree in this tournament should be enough to attract a big chunk of action from bettors. That\u2019s not to mention that she\u2019s 24-2 in this event. Before coming over to Connecticut, Wozniacki reached the quarterfinals of the Western &amp; Southern Open but got ousted by Karolina Pliskova.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Longshot: Sloane Stephens<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Stephens made quite a run in the Western &amp; Southern Open, where she strung together four-straight victories to land in the semifinals. In any case, that was some general performance from a 70<sup>th<\/sup> ranked player.
