Like most big-time football programs, the Bulldogs suffered some attrition over the offseason, but like most big-time programs, they hauled in another great batch of recruits. In fact, they\u00a0 have the second-best group of recruits in the nation. On top of that, they have one of the best quarterbacks still running the offense for them. That\u2019s Jake Fromm, who is fresh off a 2018 campaign in which he passed for 2,749 yards, 30 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. Fromm also has the benefit of what is being labelled as one of the best offensive lines nationally, which is led by junior Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson — both should find their ways into the NFL in the near future. Also set to get tremendous help from that O-line is running back Andre Swift, who had 49 rushing yards and a touchdown on just a carry in the Bulldogs\u2019 49-13 home win over the Commodores last year. Fromm, meanwhile, had 276 passing yards and three touchdowns with zero picks thrown on 17-for-23 completions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kyle Shurmur has turned pro, which means that the Commodores\u2019 offense is mostly now in the hands of De\u2019Shawn Vaughn. The running back is expected to be the focal point of Vandy\u2019s attack, which averaged 160.2 rushing yards per game last season. Vaughn led the team in 2018 with 1,244 rushing yards while also collecting 12 rushing scores along the way. The starter under center will be graduate transfer Riley Neal, who came over from Ball State, where he passed for 7,393 yards and completed 60 percent of his passes. Neal will find himself with great talent surrounding him. Apart from Vaughn, Neal will get help from wide receiver Kalija Lipscomb and Jared Pinkney, who is regarded as one of the best in the college ranks in his position. Neal may be new to the SEC, but he\u2019s an experienced quarterback who could deliver the goods and exceed expectations.<\/span><\/p>\n
