It was not a walk in the park, but the Sooners nevertheless got the job done over the weekend, as Spencer Rattler and company beat the Kansas State Wildcats on the road, 37-31 to remain undefeated this season. Prior to that, the Sooners defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers, 16-13. Rattler went 22\/25 for 243 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Wildcats, though he had an interception. That was par for the course for the Sooners, who entered the game averaging a turnover per game but are +0.5 in turnover margin per contest. Although the Sooners failed to cover the spread as 12.5-point road favorites against Kansas State, they are 2-1 against the spread in their last three road games, dating back to last season. They are also a mighty 7-3 straight up in their last 10 games as the road team since 2018. Rattler will have solid weapons around him to combat Texas\u2019 defense. He has the pair of Marvin Mims and Michael Woods to throw at downfield and a running back in Kennedy Brooks, who is rushing over 5.0 yards per carry. Brooks even had 91 rushing yards on 15 carries against the Wildcats.<\/span><\/p>\n

Texas may have a loss already this season, but the Longhorns also have a win against a ranked opponent, something Oklahoma still has to achieve. The Longhorns opened up their 2021 schedule with a 38-18 home win over the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, which was followed by a 40-21 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville.\u00a0 However, that loss to the Razorbacks was when the Longhorns still had Hudson Card under center, With Casey Thompson as the starting quarterback now, Texas\u2019 offense has taken flight. They scored 58 points against the Rice Owls, 70 (!) against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, before beating the TCU Horned Frogs on the road last Saturday, 32-27. Texas has what it takes to expose Oklahoma\u2019s defense that had just allowed Kansas State to convert on three fourth downs. The Sooners also seem to be having issues with discipline, as shown by their 10 penalties in the Kansas State game. Oklahoma entered that game 96th nationally with 0.05 penalties per game and 88th with 7.0 penalties per contest.<\/span><\/p>\n
