Before that, Oklahoma fell short of scoring a giant upset victory in an 84-74 loss to no. 1 Baylor Bears in Waco. What makes Oklahoma dangerous is its efficiency on offense. The Sooners, who shot 61.7 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from behind the arc in the Iowa State game, are fourth in the nation with a 58.6 effective field goal percentage. They are also second nationally with a 51.2 field goal percentage. Tanner Groves, a transfer from Eastern Washington, is leading the Sooners with 14.3 points per game on 59.1 percent shooting from the floor this season to go with a 40.4 3-point percentage. The Longhorns\u2019 offense just didn\u2019t respond to the challenge in that game, as they shot only 39.2 percent from the field and 27.3 percent on their threes. However, Texas\u2019 offense can\u2019t just be dismissed after a bad performance. After all, the Longhorns put up at least 70 points in each of their three games prior to the loss to Oklahoma State. That stretch included Texas\u2019 74-59 win against the West Virginia Mountaineers and a 70-57 victory at the expense of the Kansas State Wildcats. Moreover, Texas\u2019 defense is one that can handle most opponents.
