The Hawks will be licking their chops at the prospect of facing a New Orleans side that\u2019s averaging just 100.8 points per game this season, 15<sup>th<\/sup> in the entire NBA. It was another disappointing performance by the Pelicans who remained winless to start the season. This is New Orleans\u2019 worst start to an NBA campaign in 11 years.<\/p>\n<p>Alvin Gentry surely didn\u2019t envision such an opening salvo to his Pelicans\u2019 coaching career. He can attribute that poor start to his side\u2019s woeful field goal shooting. They are shooting just 40.9 percent from the field this season, sixth-worst in the NBA. In fact, Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday are all shooting below that mark.<\/p>\n<p>Davis, in particular, has been a shell of his former self this season. He was just 3 of 12 from the field in Tuesday&#8217;s loss to Orlando, finishing with a measly 14 points. He\u2019s averaging just 20.8 points and 10 boards this campaign, way below his scoring and rebounding marks last season.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t help matters that injuries are ravaging the New Orleans side at the present time. Tyreke Evans (right knee), Norris Cole (left ankle) and Quincy Pondexter (left knee) have yet to play this campaign and Omer Asik has seen just 10 minutes this season while battling a right calf strain. Kendrick Perkins is also out with a right pectoral issue.<\/p>\n<p>For the Pelicans to snap their losing skid tonight, they will need to get Davis more involved on the offensive end. He averaged 26.0 points and 11.3 rebounds while shooting 52.9 percent in New Orleans\u2019 last four meetings against Atlanta. Apart from that, the Pelicans also need to improve on their lackluster defense. They are second-worst in the NBA in scoring defense, allowing a whopping 115.0 points per game this season.<\/p>\n<p>The Pelicans are 0-2 SU and ATS at home this season.<\/p>\n<h3>Writer\u2019s
