Pro Football Hall of Fame

Players, coaches and contributors who have “made outstanding contributions to professional football” are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. As of 2012, a total of 273 individuals have been enshrined. Seventeen comes from the charter class selected in 1963.

BET ON SPORTS

Currently, the rules stipulate that between four to seven individuals are to be selected each year. A 44-person Selection Committee—media representatives from each pro football city and at-large delegates among them—scrutinizes and studies the candidates. Each one must receive at least 80 per cent approval of the Committee at the annual meeting before one can be elected.
