Recap: Like the previous year, the Pro Bowl featured the top defensive players in the league. The 1988 version saw Buffalo Bills defensive end Bruce Smith win the MVP even as the AFC defeated the NFC, 15-to-6 in another low-scoring affair. After a scoreless opening quarter, the AFC brought a slim 7-t0-6 advantage at half time and they would hold on to it for a 15-to-6 final score. Smith had five tackles and two sacks.
