Super Bowl V
Date: January 17, 1971
Venue: Orange Bowl (Miami, Florida)
Result: Baltimore Colts def. Dallas Cowboys, 16-13
MVP: Chuck Howley (LB, Dallas)
Recap: It was only apt that a defensive player was named the MVP of the title game. After all, it was an offensive struggle for both the Baltimore Colts and the Dallas Cowboys. And with five seconds to go in the game, it was a 32-yarder from rookie kicker Jim O’Brien which decided the outcome as the Colts completed the come-from-behind victory, 16-to-13. Dallas led Baltimore 13-6 going into the final quarter. Outside linebacker Chuck Howley, who had two interceptions, was the first player to win a Super Bowl MVP from a losing team.
