Recap: The New England Patriots stamped their mark as team of the new century with their third Super Bowl title in the last four years. Winning in 2002 and 2004, the Patriots defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-to-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX led by wide receiver Deion Branch, who was named the Super Bowl XXXIX MVP.

The Patriots intercepted Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb three times including one in the final quarter. The game was tied after the third quarter before the Patriots grabbed a 24-to-14 lead halfway in the fourth quarter. Branch had 133 yards on 11 interceptions while New England quarterback Tom Brady had 236 yards on 23-of-33 passes with 2 touchdowns.
