Tiger Woods

2015 hasn’t been the best of years for Tiger Woods who has struggled mightily with his golf game this season. The 14-time major champion has yet to record a top-10 finish on the PGA Tour this year. He has already missed four cuts this season and his best finish this year was a tie for 17th at the Masters last April. He was simply atrocious in his last major tournament, firing rounds of 76 and 75 at the Old Course to miss the cut at the Open Championship by seven strokes.

[sc:Golf240banner ]If there’s one tournament, though, that can bring the best out of Woods, it’s got to be the PGA Championship. He has won this event a whopping four times, recording victories in 1999, 2000, 2006 and 2007. He also looks to be rounding into form heading into the year’s final major this week. He recorded three rounds in the 60s in his last start at the Quicken Loans National. That’s just the second time this season that he has accomplished that feat. Look for Woods to shock this week and win his 15th major title. He is pegged at +2,500 to do just that.

Brooks Koepka

One player who has surpassed expectations this 2015 season is Brooks Koepka. He has finished in the top-20 in eight of his 14 Tour starts this year including a victory at the Phoenix Open last January. Key to Koepka’s ascent this season has been his phenomenal driving. Koepka is a big hitter who is averaging 308.2 yards off the tee, ranked fifth overall on the PGA Tour. Thanks to that extreme length, Koepka is now fifth in the PGA Tour in scoring with an impressive 69.780 average.

That tremendous power will come in handy for Koepka when facing the long 7,501-yard, par-72 Whistling Straits Golf Course. With the form that he is in right now, expect Koepka to be in the hunt once again this coming weekend. His odds of winning the PGA Championship are currently priced at +4,000.

Jimmy Walker

Another American who’s playing some excellent golf this year is Jimmy Walker. He has already won two PGA Tour titles this season, capturing the Sony Open last January and the Texas Open last March. He has finished in the top-10 in five of his 16 starts this year. He has played poorly, however, in the majors this year with his best finish a tie for 30th at the Open Championship last month.

You can never count out Walker, however, from making a charge at the PGA Championship this week because of his superb touch on the putting greens. He leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained with putting with an incredible .890 average. That will come in handy when tackling the undulating greens of this tough Whistling Straits set-up. Walker is listed at +4,000 to win the year’s final major.
