2015 Wyndham Championship Betting Preview

Favorites – Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer

It hasn’t been a vintage year for former World No. 1 Adam Scott (+950). The Aussie has failed to record a win – or even a top-three finish – in 12 events this season. He even missed the cut of the recent PGA Championship, the first time he’s missed the cut in a major since 2011.

[sc:Golf240banner ]Despite his struggles, the 2013 Masters champion should still be one of the favorites entering the Wyndham Championship. Prior to his missed cut at Whistling Straits, Scott had recorded two of his three top-10 finishes at the US Open (T4) and The Open Championship (T10).

Like Scott, World No. 21 Martin Kaymer (+1,900) is suffering through a similar slump this season, recording just one top-10 finish prior to the PGA Championship. However, the two-time major champion has finally shown signs of life with a very strong showing at Whistling Straits.

One knock on the two favorites, though, is their relative unfamiliarity with the course. Scott has never played at Sedgefield Country Club in his career. Meanwhile, Kaymer finished T20 in his lone appearance at the Wyndham Championship in 2013.

Sleepers – Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker

Webb Simpson

Webb Simpson (+1,600) hasn’t had a particularly noteworthy season – he has just four top-10 finishes in 17 starts – but he always seems to do pretty well when he plays at the Wyndham Championship. The 30-year old has finished in the top 25 in each of his last five starts at Sedgefield, with three top-10 finishes. This includes the first of his four career PGA Tour wins back in 2011.

Brandt Snedeker has also found quite a bit of success at the Wyndham Championship. Like Simpson, he won his very first PGA Tour title in the event back in 2007, when it was still held at Forest Oaks. Snedeker has felt right at home at Sedgefield as well, with three top-10 finishes in the past six years, including last year’s T5.

The seven-time Tour winner will head into this year’s tournament in fine form. He’s had four top-10 finishes in his last six events, and is in the top-15 through three rounds of the PGA Championship.

Long Shot – Ryan Moore

After a promising first few months of the year which saw three top-10 finishes, including a win at the CIMB Classic last November, the good results have dried up for Ryan Moore (+2,800). He’s made the top 25 in just three of the past 11 events, and missed the cut in three of them.

The 32-year old should be considered at least a long shot to win, though. He has four career PGA Tour victories, the first of which came at Sedgefield in the 2009 Wyndham Championship.
