2016 Memorial Tournament Expert Picks and Predictions

ProGolfNow

Expert Winner
Sam Belden Hideki Matsuyama

Sam Belden has made his selection and it is Hideki Matsuyama who he thinks will win the Memorial this week. What makes Matsuyama such a good pick in his eyes is his outstanding record here at Muirfield Village. The Japanese star has never missed out on the top 5 in both of his starts here. He even won the championship back in 2014. Matsuyama has been playing some solid golf of late as well, notching top-20s in each of his last five starts, including four top-11s during that stretch. With the form that he is in right now and his experience with this particular golf course, Matsuyama has an excellent chance of nabbing another Memorial title this coming weekend.

Expert Winner
Adam Solowiei Justin Rose

Adam Solowiei of Sports Unbiased has made his choice and it is Justin Rose who he believes will win at Jack’s place this year. The Englishman knows his way around the Muirfield course as evidenced by his six top-15 finishes in this golf tournament. Rose won the championship here in 2010 and finished runner-up in this event last year, losing in a playoff to David Lingmerth.

That being said, it won’t be smooth sailing for Rose this coming weekend. The one man who Solowiei thinks will pose a major threat to Rose this week is Matt Kuchar. He’s one of the hottest players on Tour, nabbing four top-10s in his last five starts. In fact, Kuchar is coming off a sixth-place showing at the recently-concluded Dean & DeLuca Invitational. The 37-year-old has had some success at the Memorial in the past as well, grabbing the tournament win back in 2013. He has managed five top-10s in his last seven trips to Muirfield.
