Manchester City (+187)

Last season was the most trying in Pep Guardiola’s managerial career. Not only did he fail to win the league for just the second time, but he didn’t even finish in the top two. But amid all the difficulty he had, particularly in defense, you’d have to figure a manager of his caliber will have figured some things figured out by now and his team in turn should be more comfortable in his system.

The defense remains similar to last year, although some improvement from John Stones has to happen. Meanwhile, their attack is arguably the best in the league after they added Bernardo Silva to a unit that already boasts the likes of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and Leroy Sane. They are rightly favored to win it all this season, and it’d take another calamitous defensive effort to derail their chances again.

Manchester United (+333)

United really should’ve been much higher than sixth but their league-high 15 draws doomed them to another season outside the top four. Their squad remains mostly unchanged from last season, with the addition of defender Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku coming in to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic the only notable changes.

That should be considered something of a positive as it’ll provide the continuity which Mourinho teams have used to thrive in the past. Paul Pogba should have a better clue as to his role in the team after an uneven first season at Old Trafford, and the United squad should still be deep enough to handle a return to the Champions League. They’re expected to be the closest challengers to their city neighbors, and anything less should be considered a bit of a disappointment.

Tottenham Hotspur (+900)

It speaks to the strength of the Premier League that the team that’s finished in the top three in back-to-back years has merely the fourth-best odds to win the championship. Tottenham took a blow with the loss of right-back Kyle Walker, but their performances last season suggest Walker wasn’t quite the indispensable piece he was thought to be.

The rest of Spurs’ talented core remains intact, though, and their strongest XI should be the most cohesive unit among the title challengers. Harry Kane and Dele Alli are seemingly getting better, while the defense should remain one of the best in the league. It feels like just a matter of time until Spurs finally break out of their runner-up slump and take that final step up. Why can’t it be this year?
