Only two races remain before the NASCAR postseason begins, which means this week’s field of drivers at Darlington Raceway will surely be eager to put on a great performance considering that there are only a few playoff spots left for the remaining contenders.

Virginia Vroom of PredictEm.com wasn’t hesistant to go with the defending champion at Darlington in Martin Truex Jr. (+400). Vroom’s not only confident that the 37-year-old Truex can pull off the repeat because of last year’s win, but also because he’s having a banner campaign this 2017, currently as the points leader in the season standings.

Although Geoff Harvey of Get More Sports didn’t outright make a prediction for the overall winner at Darlington, he did pick a driver who he believes is a surefire top-five finisher. And as we’d have it, he also went with Truex as that top-five lock.
Harvey’s just as impressed with the Jersey native’s phenomenal season thus far. He pointed out that Truex has 10 top-10 finishes for the year, including top-three finishes in three of the last four races entering Sunday’s event.

Truex completes the sweep of our feature here, as he’s also our pick to win it all this weekend in Darlington. But if you’re looking for a driver that sort of bucks the popular consensus, we also covered another favorite to win the Bojangles’ Southern 500 in our complete preview of the race.
Kyle Busch shares the same odds as Truex at +400, and it’s hard to argue against those odds given the recent run that the Joe Gibbs Racing standout is having. Busch has seven top-10 finishes at Darlington, including a victory from 2008. Not only that, he’s also hot off a win at Bristol a couple of weeks back for his fourth-straight top-10 finish in as many races to date.
