If there’s one golfer primed for a breakthrough victory at the Genesis Open this week, it’s got to be J.B. Holmes. He’s got a great track record in this tournament, nabbing seven top-25 finishes since 2008, including last year’s T-11 showing. Holmes has been playing some solid golf of late as well, finishing in the top-25 in each of his last two PGA Tour starts at TPC Scottsdale and Pebble Beach.
Luke List
One golfer who can definitely make a run at the title this week is Luke List. He has been on fire to start the season, grabbing five top-15 finishes in his last eight starts, including a runner-up finish at the Sanderson Farms tournament last October. The Seattle native has had some success in this tournament in the past as well, tying for 20th last year. Key to List’s strong start this season has been his booming drive. He leads the PGA Tour in driving distance, averaging a whopping 317.8 yards per drive this season. That powerful swing will be a major weapon for List when tackling the long 7,322 yard, par-71 Riviera course.
