1. Jordan Spieth
OWGR Ranking: 6th
2017 FedExCup Rank: 7th
Odds to win The Masters: +600
Augusta is where Spieth kickstarted his PGA Tour fame in 2015, and he’s definitely primed to don another green jacket this year. He even finished tied for second last season and in 2014, so you know darn well that he can make magic happen all over again.
2. Rory McIlroy
OWGR Ranking: 2nd
2017 FedExCup Rank: 48th
Odds to win The Masters: +700
For the season, McIlroy has a pair of T4 finishes and a T7 through three non-match play tournaments. He may not be as active as we would’ve wanted, but this may be the case of Wee-Mac saving his energy for The Masters in order for him to finally complete the career Grand Slam.
3. Dustin Johnson
OWGR Ranking: 1st
2017 FedExCup Rank: 1st
Odds to win The Masters: +700
If not for an untimely freak injury right before this week’s tournament, Johnson would’ve easily remained atop the oddsmakers’ lists. Nevertheless, DJ’s three-straight wins heading into Augusta is hard to ignore, so best keep an close eye on his status if you still want to bank on the hottest golfer of 2017.
4. Jason Day
OWGR Ranking: 3rd
2017 FedExCup Rank: 93rd
Odds to win The Masters: +1,200
It’s been an emotional year for Day, who’s not having the best of seasons on the greens mainly because he’s also dealing with his mother’s health issues. Still, the 2011 Masters runner-up should put on a spirited effort this week in loving tribute to his mother as he attempts to exhibit his fantastic form in 2015 when he won the last two majors of the year in succession.
5. Rickie Fowler
OWGR Ranking: 8th
2017 FedExCup Rank: 8th
Odds to win The Masters: +1,200
Fowler seems to be flying under everybody’s radar. He actually has five-straight top-20 finishes to date, which includes a win at Palm Beach and a T3 finish last week in Houston. The 28-year-old has built up great momentum indeed as he continues his quest for his first major victory.
6. Justin Rose
OWGR Ranking: 14th
2017 FedExCup Rank: 16th
Odds to win The Masters: +1,500
Perhaps even more consistent of late than Fowler is Rose, who has a seven-start top-20 streak (with five top-15s) going for him. He’s no pushover at The Masters either, having strung together six-straight top-25s that includes a runner-up finish from the 2015 edition of the tournament.
7. Hideki Matsuyama
OWGR Ranking: 4th
2017 FedExCup Rank: 2nd
Odds to win The Masters: +1,800
Matsuyama has cooled-off significantly since winning in Scottsdale back in early February, but he’s also well-rested heading into Augusta. Given his solo fifth in 2015 and T7 from last year’s Masters, the slumbering Japanese could certainly give the rest of the field a rude awakening to remember this week.
8. Jon Rahm
OWGR Ranking: 12th
2017 FedExCup Rank: 4th
Odds to win The Masters: +1,800
No Masters debutante has won the tournament since Fuzzy Zoeller back in 1979, but Rahm could certainly change that. In less than a year as a pro, the Spaniard has shot up the World Golf Rankings in no time, and he currently has a six-start streak of top-16 finishes that began with a win at Torrey Pines in February.
9. Phil Mickelson
OWGR Ranking: 18th
2017 FedExCup Rank: 34th
Odds to win The Masters: +1,800
Never count out good ol’ Lefty at the Masters. In 25-career starts at Augusta, Mickelson has three wins (2004, 2006, 2010), 11 top-fives and 15 top-10s, with a superb T2 finish in 2015 being his latest high mark on the course. The 46-year-old living legend is aiming to become the oldest Masters champion this week, so you know he’ll be put on one heck of a show to achieve that milestone.
10. Sergio Garcia
OWGR Ranking: 11th
2017 FedExCup Rank: 70th
Odds to win The Masters: +2,800
Garcia never did win that elusive major tournament during his prime, but he’s playing some of his finest golf of late this season having been just engaged at the start of the year. He won a European Tour event in Dubai this February, and he also has four top-17 finishes in five starts on the main Tour with top-15s in the two recently-concluded WGC tourneys.
