The Total Payout
There is money to be made here at Glen Abbey. The RBC Canadian Open boasts a total purse of $6 million, with a hefty $1.08 million of that pot going to the eventual champion. That’s excellent news for this week’s field considering the total payout last year amounted to only $5.9 million.
To put into perspective the difference in prize money, defending champion Jhonattan Vegas pocketed $1,026,000 in cash winnings last year. That’s $18,000 less than the amount the RBC Canadian Open winner will receive this year. Finishing second in this tournament ain’t bad either with the runner-up receiving a cash payout of $648,000. On the other end of the table, the 70th or so golfer to make the cut this week will bring home around $12,000.
