Randy Chambers | Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm |
Chambers, once again, gave a lot of props to the current best golfer in the globe, Dustin Johnson. He said that the 32-year-old, if not for a few bad breaks, could’ve “easily” been a back-to-back US Open champ, which could be accurate. Johnson is first in greens in regulation percentage and fifth in scoring average, and will enter having finished third or better in eight of his last five appearances on the tournament.
The Jon Rahm pick, on the other hand, is about Chambers believing that the kid is finally and officially ready to compete deep in the majors. He liked that despite being at the tender age of 22, Rahm is coming in with 10 top-25 finishes in his last 15 events, along with the 27th-place performance at the Masters, which impressed Chambers.

Derek Clements | Kevin Kisner |
Clements gave a lot of praises to the usual names – Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, etc. However, he believes that each guy at least had one current issue that is concerning – McIlroy’s injuries, Spieth’s up-and-down play, and Mickelson probably missing the event.
So, he concluded by picking Kevin Kisner, who has seven top 11 in the last four months (three were T2 or better). Clements shared how high thinks of the guy’s abilities, saying that Kisner has the style that perfectly fits the Erin Hills course. He then went on to say that he thinks the veteran is quite underrated despite owning a focused, no-nonsense approach to the game.
Thomas Pieters, according to Clements, was the same way, although he reiterated that it’s Kisner’s time to shine.

Ryan Asselta | Justin Rose |
Asselta admitted that Dustin Johnson is still the clear-cut favorite, given that it’s undisputed that he’s the best today. He also added that the Erin Hills’ long and wide course will be a good mix to DJ’s game.
Rickie Fowler will also be an interesting watch according to Asselta, since this could his breakout performance. He then shared how excited he was that the crowd will be behind Fowler, who’s sure to play with the crowd and use Green Bay Packers-themed apparel.
Still, one guy only earned our final expert’s pick: Justin Rose. He lauded over Rose being a solid striker and having the ability to improve despite entering the dog years, adding that though under-the-radar, the wily veteran still has a lot left in the tank.
Rose is among older guys in the list of participants (36 years old), but it could be a wise selection. The man ruled the 2013 US Open and also has a trio of top 10 finishes in the event.
