Expert Picks and Predictions for the 2018 French Open Men’s Singles Division

Tennis Pro Guru – Rafael Nadal

Tennis Pro Guru seemed to have an easy time making their choice for their pick to win at Roland Garros. That choice is Rafael Nadal, who is unsurprisingly the favorite to win the tournament – again. Nadal has won the French Open 10 times, and it’s truly hard to bet against that kind of monster on the clay. To show how ready he is for another trip to the top at Roland Garros, Nadal bested the competition at the recently-concluded Rome Masters where he defeated Alexander Zverev in the finals, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.

Here’s what Tennis Pro Guru has to say about Nadal and his chances of winning his 11th French Open title this year:

It is harder to predict distant future. Men’s draw of French open is the exception. There is only one king of clay. Healthy Rafael Nadal is unbeatable on clay. Even slightly injured Rafael Nadal is unbeatable on clay (as reference see his only match at ATP Finals 2017 against Goffin. On hard court, on one leg, Nadal made it to the third set). Easy choice.

Randy Chambers (Sports Chat Place) – Rafael Nadal

Randy Chambers of Sports Chat Place did not exactly say that Rafael Nadal would win the 2018 French Open in his preview of the tournament, but he insinuated that it’s for the Spaniard’s to lose. Nadal is the heavy favorite to rule the upcoming edition of the Roland Garros, so Chambers basically just skipped over Nadal’s name in talking about some of the must-watch players in the field. Nonetheless, Nadal deserves all the fear he inspires upon the other competitors, who are all blinded by the reflection of his 10 French Open trophies.

CBS’ Sean Calvert is on a bit of a hot streak with his bold picks. Last month, he named John Isner to win the Miami Open at 100-1 which resulted in a darn near a life-changing payout for those who followed his advice. In March, he also nailed his pick with Juan Martin Del Porto, who went on to win Indian Wells at 10-1 odds. Cheeky as ever, CBS is keeping things under wraps (to get you to subscribe) stating that Sean has made five picks to win the French Open, and none of them is Nadal. But we have it under good authority (with CBS hinting at the same) that Calvert is especially hot on Hyeon Chung, which offers a big pay day at 30-1 odds.

Ryan Simpson (TopBet Writer) – Rafael Nadal

TopBet’s own Ryan Simpson is sticking with the favorite. Simpson believes Nadal will stamp his class once again. Nadal’s dominance of the clay court has been well documented and there have been barely any signs that he’s slowing down anytime soon. After winning this 10th French Open last season, it looks as if he’s going to be a perched atop the clay kingdom for at least few more years. The safest bet is Nadal according to Ryan – no contest.
