2020 PGA 3M Open Purse and Prize Money Breakdown

After the inaugural 3M Open last year, it’s time again to search for a winner at TPC Twin Cities.  In 2019, Matthew Wolff topped the field to take home the $1.152 million or the biggest chunk of the $6.4 million pot.  When he won 2019 3M Open, Wolff became the third golfer ever to earn an NCAA Individual national title and a PGA Tour win in the same year. Wolff will look to defend his 3M Open title this week, and he can expect tough competition from the likes of Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. This will be Johnson’s first time to join the 3M Open, which is the successor of the 3M Championship.

The Total Payout – $6.6 million

This year’s purse at the 3M Open has received a boost worth $200,000, making the tournament even more lucrative. The 3M Open’s precursor, the 3M Championship, used to have bigger prizes for its winners. When the 3M Championship began in 2001, Bruce Lietzke took home $1.75 million as a prize for his win. Every year from 2001 until 2018, the total prize for the winner was the same amount. Back when the tournament was still known as Burnet Senior Classic from 1993 to 1997, the highest prize given to the winner was $1.350, which Hale Irwin won in 1997.
