Rob Bolton of PGA Tour.com didn’t specifically name a winner in his power rankings piece for this year’s edition of the Travelers Championship. But he seemed to feel very optimistic about Bubba Watson’s chances of defending his title at TPC River Highlands, placing the 37-year-old veteran at No. 1 spot of his list.
Bolton’s main reason for doing so is heavily based on the fact that this particular tournament is one of Watson’s favorites. The World No. 6, after all, already has two wins (last year and 2010) there, and is aiming to become the first player since Phil Mickelson (2001-02) to win back-to-back Travelers Championship crowns. Watson is priced at +1,200 to do so.

Stroud, who currently ranks 131 in the FedEx Cup rankings, is no stranger to this tournament. He’s registered four top-20 finishes and almost won the event itself back in 2013. Stroud’s also going to play with a sense of urgency here, as he needs to start delivering the goods consistently to hopefully be around for the playoffs.
