Betting on the Ole Miss Rebels (TBA)
With three games left in the regular-season, Ole Miss is still playing for bowl eligibility. The road to doing so just got rockier, as its starting quarterback—Chad Kelly—has been deemed out for the season after suffering a devastating knee injury during last week’s 37-27 win over Georgia Southern.
Kelly’s void is going to be filled in by redshirt freshman Jason Pellerin, who’s will lead a pass-heavy offense that’s accumulating 316.4 yards on the air this year. He replaced Kelly in the third period versus the Eagles, completing just 1 of five passes for 19 yards and an interception.
The Rebels have a deep group of receivers who can wreak some havoc downfield. For one, there’s the pair of Evan Engram and Damore’ea Stringfellow, who’ve combined for 1,304 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns this season. But it remains to be seen if both, and the entire offense, can be just as effective with a new face behind center.
Ole Miss is 2-3 SU and 1-3-1 ATS in its previous five road games.
Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (TBA)
Last Saturday’s unexpected loss to unranked Mississippi State put the fourth-ranked Aggies tumbling out of the playoff conversation.
Fifth-year head coach Kevin Sumlin perfectly summarized what went wrong in that stunning loss, saying that his team simply got whipped and couldn’t keep the Bulldogs’ running attack, which gathered 365 yards, at bay.
Adding more pain to the stunning loss is the injury to quarterback Trevor Knight, who exited in the first half after hurting his throwing shoulder. Backup quarterback Jake Hubenak replaced him, and ended up making 11 of 17 passes for 222 yards, a pair of TDs and an interception. The frustrated Aggies will likely have to turn to him once more in this upcoming game versus Ole Miss.
Even with Knight out, Texas A&M is still heavily favored against a Chad Kelly-less Bulldogs’ team. The Aggies defense, which only gives up 21.4 points per contest, should quickly dictate the outcome of the match.
Writer’s Prediction
The Aggies respond in emphatic fashion, defeating Ole Miss, 41-15.
