Bleacher Report
Bleacher Report writer James Dudko has broken down the 2017 Preakness Stakes, and believes that Cloud Computing (+1,200) and Gunnevera (+1,500) are the dark horses worth wagering on for Saturday’s race.
Dudko likes Cloud Computing’s speed at Pimlico, and notes that he has been looking good and running well during training. And as for Gunnevera, Dudko also believes he has the power and the conditioning needed in a track like Pimlico, especially if it gets a bit muddy due to some rain.
Covers
Monique Vag of the popular betting site Covers has offered up three of her best long shot bets to win at the Preakness: Hence (+1,500), Multiplier (+3,000), and Cloud Computing (+1,200).
Hence didn’t have a particularly impressive performance at the Derby, although Vag believes he’s capable of bouncing back just like he did when he won the Sunland Derby after finishing 7th in the Southwest Stakes.
As for Multiplier, Vag sees jockey Joel Rosario as a big plus. Multiplier won the Grade 3 Illinois Derby in nearly record time, and Rosario’s Triple Crown experience could help him match or even exceed that level of performance at Pimlico.
And last but not least, Vag thinks Cloud Computing will be one of the horses who could be one of the early pacesetters in a Preakness field that doesn’t have a ton of speed. She also believes Cloud Computing’s racing style is well-suited to the dirt surface at Pimlico.
PennLive.com
PennLive.com broke down the entire weekend of races set to go down at Pimlico. After it was all said and done, the author went with Classic Empire as his winner, with Gunnevera as his long shot bet.
Gunnevera would certainly pay out quite handsomely if he does somehow pull the upset. A $20 bet on him at his current +1,500 odds would win you $300.
