There are a ton of golfers to watch this coming April 5 in Augusta where the 2018 edition of The Masters will be played. Tigers Woods, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and Dustin Johnson are just some of the names that will command attention, but let’s not forget about those other second-tier and beyond participants who could give Woods and company a run for their own money. Alexander Noren (+3,300)
Alex Noren did not make the cut at the PGA Masters last year, which was his debut. We could attribute that to butterflies, but in any case, Noren will come back to Augusta with much more experience. He is also coming off a string of solid performances. He was third in the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play on March 25 and was also a third in the Honda Classic a month earlier. In eight PGA starts this year, the 35-year-old Noren has three top 10’s and six top 25’s with zero cuts missed.
Matt Kuchar (+5,000)
Similar to Noren, Kuchar seemed to have gained steam just in time for The Masters. The 39-year-old Kuchar has finished inside of the top 10 in each of his last two events. He was a T8 at the Houston Open and a T9 prior to that at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. As for his Masters background, Kuchar has missed the cut there just once out of 11 total starts. He had a T4 last year in the tournament, which was also the fourth time he ended up inside the top eight in his last six outings in Augusta.
Kevin Chappell (+7,000)
Chappell has not missed a cut in his two trips to Augusta, which includes his T7 in last year’s edition of The Masters. This April, he will give it a go again as one of the top sleeper picks in the tournament, where he looks to win his first-ever major title. That’s going to be easier said than done, considering that he’s priced +7,000 to take home the Green Jacket, but he has to like his chances given that he has six top 21 finishes this season.
