2018 PGA Championship Sleepers and Sleeper Picks and Predictions

Favorites in golf remain pretty consistent from event to event. Justin Thomas, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, and even Tiger Woods are always going to attract attention from bettors. They remain top contenders for the 2018 PGA Championship at the sportsbook. But there are others in this week’s event that are flying under the radar and could drive major winnings (for you) should they awake their respective inner beasts to take the tournament.

Top 3 Sleeper Picks and Predictions for the PGA Championship Golf Tournament Running from August 9 to 12, 2018

Where: Bellerive Country Club, Missouri

TV Broadcast: CBS

Gary Woodland (+8,000)

Woodland hasn’t been able to carry over his fantastic form during the early stages of the tour, as he has finished with a T36 or worse in seven of his last nine starts. Relatively speaking, his T22 at the RBC Canadian Open late July is something that can be considered a reason for him to throw a party. Woodland, who had a T7 at the Sony Open, a T12 at the Farmers Insurance Open, and a win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open during a great January-February stage, can resurface to the top group of finishers at the vast Bellerive Country Club. Woodland is 10th in the Tour in driving distance and seventh in greens in regulation percentage.

Thomas Pieters (+5,000)

Pieters is clearly someone that doesn’t inspire much confidence for bettors to lay money on him. He has not won in 10 PGA Tour starts this season. He has not even finished inside the top 10, and only once he has made it to the top 25. All that being said, at least he has missed the cut just once. He’s always there to at least give himself a chance to win. In his last start, he had a T28 at the British Open. His strong driving game fits the spacious Bellerive Country Club dimensions. Pieters is 29th in the Tour with a 305.2 driving distance.

Adam Scott (+4,000)

Scott has no tales of victories to tell his family as of yet this season, as he has zero wins on the Tour, but he’s been making some strides of late, which suggest that he may be hitting success sooner than later. Scott is coming off a T17 at the British Open. He also had a T11 and a T9 in May at THE PLAYERS Championship and at the AT&T Byron Nelson, respectively. As for his chances at the upcoming PGA Championship, a number of key stats seem to suggest that Scott is going to have strong performance at the Bellerive Country Club. Scott is 35th in driving distance, and more impressively, is seventh in shots gained: tee to green. Furthermore, he is 10th in shots gained: approach-the-green percentage.
