Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (12-4)

After taking a disappointing 22-10 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16, the Chargers rebounded by defeating the Denver Broncos on the road last Sunday, 23-9. Philip Rivers, however, had another modest performance for the second week in a row. Against the Broncos, he only had 176 passing yards with a touchdown and two interceptions on 14-of-24 completions. In any case, the Chargers will just have to continue trusting Rivers, whom they rode to all the way into a 12-4 SU record in the regular season. Behind Rivers, the Chargers finished the regular season sixth with 26.8 points per game and 11th with 372.6 total yards per contest. Also don’t forget running back Melvin Gordon, who had 41 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in the first meeting with the Ravens.

The Chargers are 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 road games.

Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (10-6)

The Ravens had a big scare before securing a sure spot in the playoffs, as the Cleveland Browns certainly didn’t make it easy for Baltimore in Week 17. The Ravens did beat the Browns, 26-24, to make it to the postseason. Rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson passed for only 179 passing yards on 14-of-24 completions, but as usual, did most of the damage through the ground with 90 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. In the first meeting with Baltimore, Jackson had 204 passing yards and touchdown while adding 39 rushing yards on 13 carries. Jackson needs. The Ravens went run heavy in the Browns game with Jackson and company combining for 296 yards on 47 carries, and that should continue to be the case for Baltimore, which finished the regular season third in the NFL with 48.19 rushing play percentage. Of course, the Ravens are also determined to make life hard for Los Angeles’ passing attack just like they did in Week 16. The Ravens have the top pass defense in the league with just 292.9 passing yards allowed per contest.

The Ravens are 4-0 straight up (SU)  in their last four home games, while holding a 3-5 ATS record when playing at M&T Bank Stadium this season.

Writer’s Prediction

Los Angeles wins, 27-21.
