The second-to-the-last leg of the 2019 FedExCup Playoffs. Previously referred to as the Western Open, the BMW Open Championship will come right after The Northern Trust, and will feature 70 players. There will be no cuts in this tournament, given the thin size of the field, but the difference between the winner’s and the 70th placer’s prize is massive. Let’s now take a look at how the purse for this tournament is shaping up.

The Total Payout – $9.25 million
This year’s running of the BMW Championship will have a fatter purse, amounting to a total of $9.250, relatively a minor upgrade from 2018’s sum of $9 million. Nevertheless, that’s serious money and added motivation for players competing in the playoffs of the FedExCup Playoffs. This is also the fifth-straight year that the purse at the BMW Championship has been given a bump. In 2014, the purse was at $8 million. It improved to $8.25 million in 2015, to $8.5 million in 2016, then to $8.75 million in 2017.
Apart from the total purse for the 2019 BMW Championship, the only other thing we know so far about the breakdown of the prizes is the winner’s share, which is at $1.665 million. Last year, Justin Rose won the tournament and took home $1.62 million. We’re adding here the complete breakdown in 2018 to give you an estimation of what to expect for this year’s version of the total purse rundown for all 70 players.
