Following the PGA Tour’s stop in the desert for the 2020 staging of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, it’s time to head to California for the 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where Phil Mickelson will look to notch a tournament-record sixth title. Mikelson is currently tied with Mark O’Meara for the most Pebble Beach Pro-Am wins (five). Lefty tied O’Meara last year, taking home a prize worth $1.368 million. The Pebble Beach Pro-Am started in 1937 when Sam Snead topped the field for a mere sum of $500. That was big money then, but that was not even remotely close to what winners have been pocketing over the past decades. Speaking of Snead, he’s solo second in career Pebble Beach Pro-Am wins with four.

The Total Payout – $7.8 million
The total purse in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been rising steadily the past several years. It was 12 years ago when the tournament first breached the $1-million mark in prize amount for the winner, with Steve Lowery making $1.08 million. A year prior, Mickelson won this third Pro-Am title and laughed his way to the bank with a $990,000 cheque. The last time the total purse didn’t change from the previous edition was in 2005 when Mickelson won his second career Pro-Am title for $954,000 – the same amount Vija Singh cashed in back in 2004. This year, the total purse is $7.8 million, up from $7.6 million last year. The extra $200K has been spread out amongst the finishers.
