Coca Cola 600 Predictions, Picks, Odds, and Betting Preview | May 24 2020

The second race since the resumption of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series was not lacking in drama. Kyle Busch upped his heel factor after inadvertently (?) causing Chase Elliott’s wreck with just 20 laps left to go at the 2020 Toyota 500. Expect more drama and action this coming weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca Cola 600.

FAVORITES

Kevin Harvick (odds)

Harvick may have failed to follow up on his win last Sunday at the Real Heroes 400 with another this Wednesday, he still put up a fantastic performance, placing third at the Toyota 500 at Darlington Raceway. Harvick is on a hot streak. The Team Stewart-Haas Racing driver has not finished worse than ninth over his last five starts. Things are still looking good for Harvick heading into the Coca Cola 600 this weekend. Harvick has three career wins at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and 17 top 10s in 36 starts.

Martin Truex Jr. (odds)

Currently sitting on the eighth place in the NASCAR Cup Series standings, Truex has clearly shown he’s way past his mediocre performance in Phoenix last March, as he finished sixth at the Real Heroes 400 in Darlington before placing 10th at the Toyota 500, also in Darlington back on Sunday. Truex seems to have set himself up for a huge outing this weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he’s had a podium finish in six of his last seven appearances there. That includes his win in last year’s Coca Cola 600.

Jimmie Johnson (odds)

Johnson is still in search of his first win this season, but he’s gotten close to that a few times. At the Toyota 500 last Wednesday, Johnson finished eighth for his third top-10 placing in his last five starts. Johnson is inside the playoff cut, and he could be feeling good of his chances to win the 2020 Coca Cola 600, considering that he’s the winningest driver in history at Charlotte Motor Speedway. So far in his legendary career, Johnson has eight wins, 22 top 10s, and 27 top 20s in 35 starts there.

SLEEPERS

Clint Bowyer (odds)

The long layoff seems to have impacted Bowyer negatively. Before the postponement of the NASCAR Cup Series, Bowyer had a solid fifth-place performance in Phoenix. But his last two starts only yielded him a 17th and 22nd-place showings at Darlington Speedway, respectively. However, getting out of Darlington and racing in a different course could be a cure to Bowyer’s slump. It could also be remembered that Bowyer won at Charlotte Motor Speedway back in 2012’s Bank of America 500.

Tyler Reddick (odds)

The 24-year-old Team Richard Childress Racing driver continues to gain the respect of NASCAR fans. After a seventh-place finish at The Real Heroes 400 last Sunday, Reddick mustered a decent 13th-place showing during last Wednesday’s Toyota 500. Reddick is on the outside looking in of the playoff picture, as he’s just four points back of William Byron for the 16th and final playoffs spot, so expect no shortage of motivation for the youngster to win at the 2020 Coca Cola 600.

Austin Dillon (odds)

Dillon finished 2oth at the 2020 Toyota 500, which wasn’t much at all. Prior to that, he was 11th at The Real Heroes 400. Nevertheless, punting on Dillon is not an entirely bad idea. After all, he’s won at Charlotte Motor Speedway before. That was in 2017 when he scored a victory in that year’s edition of the Coca Cola 600.

LONG SHOT

Daniel Suarez (odds)

Suarez hasn’t done anything impressive this season, with zero top-20 finishes to date. But for the first time this year, Suarez managed to lead a lap, which he did in last Wednesday’s 2020 Toyota 500. Still a positive!

Writer’s Prediction

Kevin Harvick wins the 2020 Coca Cola 600.
