PGA Tour Championship Purse and Prize Money Breakdown 2020

The FedEx Cup Playoffs are about to conclude, with the TOUR Championship all set to go, beginning this Friday. A total of 30 players will be competing for the dizzying total of $15 million for the winner. Among those vying for the title are the likes of Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson, Collin Morikawa, and of course, the defending champion, Rory McIlroy. If you are waiting for us to mention Tiger Woods, then sorry, the all-time great failed to make it to the list of 30 golfers. Then again, Woods reportedly has a net worth of $800 million, so he probably wouldn’t mind missing out on the chance to win $15 million more.

The Total Payout – $45 million

If you think that you need to be a basketball or football superstar to get rich in sports, then you certainly haven’t paid much attention to golf. Take for example the amount of money McIlroy took home last year, when he topped the 2019 TOUR Championship. The Northern Irishman bathed himself in $15 million for winning that event. McIlroy is just +2500 to win the TOUR Championship this year, but even if he finishes as the solo runner-up, he’s still going to take $5 million. Not too shabby. Still on McIlroy, he won the 2016 TOUR Championship, too, and for that, he pocketed $1.53 million for the TOUR Championship and $10 million more for taking down the FedEx Cup title.
