Betting on the Golden State Warriors (+6)
Regular Season Record: 47-24
The Warriors have dropped their last two games after winning four games in a row. It appears that Golden State is either hot or cold over its past several games, as prior to that aforementioned win streak, the Warriors went on a five-game losing skid. The Warriors, who lost to the San Antonio Spurs last Sunday at home, 110-108, will look to get back up this Tuesday against the Orlando Magic to kick off a five-game road trip. The Warriors are still missing the services of Stephen Curry due to a foot injury but have plenty of capable warm bodies to carry the offense. Klay Thompson, Jordan Poole, and Andrew Wiggins are all capable perimeter scorers who can stretch the floor for each other. When the Warriors beat Miami at home last January, 115-108, Poole came off the bench and fired 32 points, while Wiggins had 22 points.
Golden State is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games in South Beach.
Betting on the Miami Heat (-6)
Regular Season Record: 47-25
Miami is coming off a 113-106 road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers Monday night. Still, the Heat remain a force to reckon with. After all, they have the best record in the East. Jimmy Butler returned from a one-game absence and paced the Heat in that game with 27 points, while Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry added 22 and 20 points, respectively. Butler also had a productive game in the first meeting with the Warriors in which he posted 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists in 28 minutes. With the Warriors missing Curry, Butler and the Heat have a better chance of winning the 3-point battle this Wednesday. Miami went 17/42 from deep in the January game versus the Warriors, while Golden State went 14/38. Over their last five games, the Heat have drained an average of 13.4 threes on 36.9 percent shooting from behind the arc.
Miami is 8-2 straight up in its last 10 games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
The Heat wins, 112-109.
