It’s important to note here that the top 30 finishers in the FedEx Cup will each get a portion of the bonus fund that is worth $75 million. They will also receive deferred money into retirement that amounts to nearly $32 million in total. Back in 2007, it was decided that the money will be put on a tax-deferred retirement accounts instead of behind handed out in cash. Players under 45 years of age will only be able to access the bonuses once they hit 45, and will also have a option to defer the prizes until they turn 60 years of age. Things change starting in 2008 after the PGA TOUR decided to tweak the distribution process, where the top 10 finishers will be awarded the FedEx Cup bonus money in bulk and a portion being the deferred payments.
