FAVORITES
Jon Rahm (+800)
Rahm will be an automatic favorite in every tournament he enters for at least as long as he sustains his present form. He is coming off a third-place finish in the 2023 WM Phoenix Open to go 5/5 so far in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season. Rahm has two wins this season and has cracked the top 10 in all five starts to date. Impressive.
Rory McIlroy (+1100)
In his first start of the year in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season, McIlroy posted a T32 in the 2023 WM Phoenix Open. In his career, the Northern Irishman is 5/6 at The Riviera Country Club, with three top 10s and five top 25s. His best finish there was a fourth-place campaign in the 2019 Genesis Open.
Scottie Scheffler (+1200)
Scheffler is definitely a player to watch out for this week, especially since he is coming off his first win of the season. He topped the field in the 2023 WM Phoenix Open with a 19-under 265. Last year, Scheffler finished seventh in the 2022 edition of The Genesis Invitational.
HIGH-VALUE SLEEPERS
Sahith Theegala(+6600)
Here’s what we said about Theegalain our 2023 The Genesis Invitational sleepers piece.
Theegala has yet to score a win in 10 starts so far in the 2022-23 PGA TOUR season, but he’s always put himself in a good position to snatch a victory. He is 9/10 in his starts this campaign and has collected a total of four top 10s and five top 25s. Coming off a T39 in the 2023 WM Phoenix Open, Theegala will look to be better this week.
Tommy Fleetwood (+9000)
Here’s what we said about Fleetwood in our 2023 The Genesis Invitational sleepers piece.
Fleetwood had a forgettable stint in his first start of the year, as he just missed the cut in the recently concluded 2023 WM Phoenix Open, firing a 72 and 71 in the first and second rounds, respectively. However, he is 2/2 in his career starts at The Riviera Country Club. Moreover, Fleetwood is currently seventh this season overall in SG: Total and No. 1 in SGL Around-the-Green, albeit in a small sample size.
LONG SHOTS
Robert Streb (ODDS)
The 35-year-old Streb is only 2/11 so far in the 2022-2023 Season PGA TOUR season. He has missed the cut in all of his last six starts.
Lucas Glover (ODDS)
Ranked just 118th in the world, Streb is 5/8 this season and he has just snapped a streak of three missed cuts with a T39 in the 2023 WM Phoenix Open.
Writer’s Prediction
Rory McIlroy wins The Genesis Invitational 2023.
