FAVORITES
Kyle Larson (+1000)
Larson is starting to heat up. The Team Hendrick Motorsports driver has gone back-to-back top 5s, with a second place in Las Vegas followed by a runner-up last Sunday at the 2023 United Rentals Work United 500. Larson is winless in 10 starts at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, but he has a career average finish of 14.6 there, thanks to two top 5s and four top 10s.
William Byron (+1000)
There is no discussion to be made about how is the hottest driver at this moment because it’s got to be no other than Byron, who has won the last two races. Can he make it three in a row with a victory on Sunday? He won at the Atlanta Motor Speedway last year when he topped the 2022 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.
Christopher Bell (+1200)
Bell is winless so far this season, but he’s definitely another driver attracting a ton of attention. After all, he already has two top 5s and three top 10s in five starts this season.
SLEEPERS
Chase Briscoe (+3300)
Here’s what we have to say about Briscoein our 2023 Ambetter Health 400 sleepers piece:
Briscoe had a slow start to the season, failing to even finish better than 20th in four of his first four races – including the 2023 Bluegreen Vacations Duel 2 at DAYTONA. But he’s finally made a noise last Sunday when he finished seventh at the 2023 United Rentals Work United 500. Briscoe has three top 16s in four starts in his career at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. In last year’s edition of the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, he finished 15th but had the pole position for that race.
AJ Allmendinger (+5000)
Here’s what we have to say about Allmendinger in our 2023 Ambetter Health 400 sleepers piece:
After finishing sixth at the 2023 Daytona 500, Allmendinger has gone a bit silent. An accident forced him out of the 2023 Pala Casino 400 before finishing just 18th at the 2023 Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube and only 20th at the 2023 United Rentals Work United 500. He could be due for a much better performance than in his recent starts.
LONG SHOT
BJ McLeod (+50000)
In six career starts at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, McLeod has zero top 5s, top 10s, and top 15s. His best finish there was 19th during the 2022 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.
Writer’s Prediction
Christopher Bell wins the 2023 Ambetter Health 400.
