Why the Delay for True Detective Season 2?
The unusual amount of mystery around season 2 of True Detective is seemingly the result of two things:
1) Pizzolatto’s has said his dark show will follow a new story in season 2, “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system,” and will be set in California.
2) The show has an intense, all-consuming six-month shooting schedule that most big name actors (who would likely be drawn to the show) would have a hard time committing to. Why do 10 episodes take so long to shoot? Well, six-minute, single shot, neighbourhood-spanning break-and-enter scenes can be pretty time consuming…

Season 1 of True Detective was bad ass, of that there is no debate. After one of the best first season’s in recent television history, HBO’s new series grew got more and more popular as the show went on, capping at 3.5 million for its finale, a record for a first season episode on the channel – and one that crashed HBO’s streaming service.
Regardless of what happens with casting for season 2, we couldn’t be more excited, and are willing to wait. After all, as Rust says: “death created time to grow the things that it would kill.” Whatever that means, it’s cool if a little time passes, as long as we get more episodes.
