2015 Valero Texas Open Sleeper Picks, Predictions, Odds, and Golf Betting Preview

From March 23-29, 2015, the TPC San Antonio golf course down in Texas will be host to some of the world’s best golfers, all vying to win the 2015 Valero Texas Open. The tournament serves as the last stop for the PGA Tour before the year’s first major: the Masters.

While we predicted in our full preview of this tournament that Dustin Johnson will win the 92nd edition of the Valero Texas Open, there are other under-the-radar players that are also capable of pulling off an unlikely win. Let’s take a look at three of these sleepers options providing a ton of value to bettors below.

Valero Texas Open of Golf Sleeper Picks and Predictions

Fredrik Jacobson

[sc:Golf240banner ]Fredrik Jacobson (+6,000) is having an uneventful year thus far, finishing in the Top 25 just once in seven tournaments played since the calendar shifted to 2015. That being said, the Swedish pro will be coming to the TPC San Antonio golf course with a resume that is nothing to scoff at.

Jacobson has finished inside the Top 20 in each of the last six editions of the Valero Texas Open. The highest he’s attained in this tournament was a runner-up finish in 2010, the first time it was held in San Antonio.  Last year, he ended up tied for 16th in the tournament.

Charley Hoffman

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Charley Hoffman (+4,500) this season. First, he missed the cut in back-to-back tournaments back in October of last year. Then he rounded into top form over the next four events, wherein he finished in the Top 15 three times. That includes a win in the OHL Classic (November) and a second-place finish in the Humana Challenge (January) to start the year.

Hoffman, however, has struggled of late, having just one Top 30 finish in the last five events he’s entered. As such, Hoffman gets on this list solely because of his great track record when playing in the Valero Texas Open. In his last eight participations in this tournament, Hoffman has amassed seven Top 15 finishes, including a T11 in 2014.

Matt Jones

Jones is not new to success in Texas. Just last year, he won the Shell Houston Open by besting the rest of the field with a total score of 273. In addition, the Australian is on a hot streak, as he hasn’t been outside the Top 15 in each of the previous three tournaments he joined, including a season-best third-place finish in the Arnold Palmer Invitational last March.

Jones’ driving game, however, will be tested in the vast TPC San Antonio golf course that measures close to 7,500 yards. Jones is currently 69th in driving distance (292.2) and 95th in driving accuracy percentage (61.08%). Jones is priced at +4,000 to win the Texas Open.
