Lindsay Gibbs | Rafael Nadal |
Nate Loop | Novak Djokovic |
[sc:Other240banner ]Bleacher Report made two different predictions for the Men’s Singles draw of the French Open. At the conclusion of the 2015 Australian Open, featured columnist Lindsay Gibbs predicted Rafael Nadal (+225) to win his 10th French Open title. It’s not too difficult to imagine, with the King of Clay a stellar 66-1 at Roland Garros. His lone blip, a fourth round loss to Robin Soderling in 2009, came when he suffered tendinitis on his knees.
But come closer to the second Grand Slam of the year, Nate Loop cast some doubt on Nadal’s form entering Roland Garros. Loop notes Nadal’s struggles on clay, losing five matches on his preferred surface this year. Nadal most recently exited in the quarterfinal of the 2015 Italian Open, a straight sets loss to Stan Wawrinka. Don’t count out the King of Clay just yet. Even Roger Federer still believes that Nadal is the rightful favorite to win the French Open.
Loop, though, believes that Novak Djokovic’s time to complete his career Grand Slam has come. Djokovic is yet to win Roland Garros in his career but came agonizingly close in a four-set defeat against Nadal in last year’s final.

theroar.com | Novak Djokovic |
The Roar, a top sports opinion website from Down Under, predicts Djokovic to finally win his first ever French Open title. The World No. 1 is on quite a tear heading into Roland Garros, winning titles in the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Rome. But Djokovic may suffer from an unfavorable draw if defending champion Nadal winds up in the Serb’s bracket. Djokovic is 0-6 at Roland Garros against the King of Clay.
Nadal is known to play his best when the pressure is highest at the French Open. But Djokovic’s absolute best may break his losing streak to the Spaniard. The World No. 1 almost did so in a five-set thriller in the semifinal of the 2013 French Open.
Djokovic is the overwhelming favorite to win Roland Garros at -125.

Sean Donnelly | Novak Djokovic |
Sean Donnelly of All Sports News joined the collection of experts in voicing their support for Djokovic to win the first French Open title of his career. Djokovic’s back-to-back titles at Madrid and Rome cannot be ignored. The last time Djokovic won back-to-back tournaments on clay, he was impressive in reaching the semifinal at Roland Garros in 2011.
Donnelly also notes that Nadal has been far from superior this season. This will be the first time in a decade that Nadal enters Roland Garros outside the world’s top-four. Nadal has only won on tour once this year at Buenos Aires against a relatively weak field missing the rest of the Big Four. Nadal’s less-than-stellar form should lead Djokovic to the title.
