Top Games to Bet on
NFL: Seattle Seahawks vs Arizona Cardinals — 8:25 PM ET
The Seahawks bounced back from their first loss of the season with a victory against the Titans, but they did it in unconvincing fashion. Seattle committed some unusual errors, including one on a field goal attempt which resulted in a Tennessee touchdown. [sc:NFL240banner ]
Marshawn Lynch was on hand to save the day with 155 total yards and two rushing touchdowns. But he may have his hands full against a Cardinals defense that’s allowing only 90.7 rushing yards/game, good for 5th in the NFL. Seattle is 5-2 SU in their last 7 road games.
Odds: Seahawks (-6.5) vs Cardinals (+6.5); O/U: 40.5
Carson Palmer and the Cardinals have had an up and down season thus far. He played good games at St. Louis and at San Francisco in a losing effort, and he played poorly in a victory against the Panthers. Their record of 3-3 is mostly indicative of their quarterback’s play.
Despite the fact that Palmer has thrown an interception in every game this year, the Cardinals remain .500. However, Palmer can’t afford to have a bad game against the 2nd best pass defense in the NFL (188 yards/game, 9 INTs). Arizona is 6-1 SU in their last 7 home games vs Seattle.
MLB: Boston Red Sox vs Detroit Tigers — 8:07 PM ET
Pitching Match-up: BOS: Jon Lester (16-9, 3.64 ERA) vs DET: Anibal Sánchez (15-9, 2.67 ERA)
The Red Sox didn’t get the start they needed from Jake Peavy yesterday as he was chased away by the Tigers in just three innings. Jon Lester should give them a fighting chance tonight. The Boston lefty pitched well enough to win in Game 1, but the Tigers shut out the Red Sox line-up. The Under is 6-1-1 in Lester’s last 8 road starts.
Jim Leyland sensed that he needed to mix things up, and he made all the right changes. The Tigers skipper dropped the struggling Austin Jackson and put Torii Hunter at leadoff, moved Miguel Cabrera to 2nd and watched as they erupted for 5 runs in the second inning. Anibal Sanchez will hope this change carries over into tonight. The Over is 4-0-2 in Sanchez’s last 6 home starts.
