We are getting close to Super Bowl 50. But let’s not look too far ahead. After all, we don’t even know which teams are going to make it past the Divisional Round.

Cardinals Rule
[sc:NFL250 ]It took a Chris Johnson season-ending injury for the Cardinals to find out the Beast Mode potential of David Johnson, but Arizona is nonetheless happy to have the rookie running back in its backfield in these playoffs. Also, it’s great timing that Johnson will play his first NFL playoff game against Green Bay.
The Northern Iowa product had his coming out party in Week 16, when he terrorized the Packers’ defense for 127 total yards to go with a rushing score. Johnson gives Arizona a solid complement for its passing attack that ranked second in the regular season with 288.5 yards per game.
Throw in Arizona’s defense that absolutely mauled the Packers (eight sacks and 178 total yards allowed) in the previous meeting, and you get why the Cards are expected to repeat over Aaron Rodgers and crew. With a shaky Green Bay squad standing in their way, the Cardinals have the easiest path among all remaining NFC teams to the NFC Championship game, which they are priced at +165 to win.
Carolina Dreaming
It’s show time for Cam Newton and the Panthers, who are +195 to win the NFC. After going 15-1 in the regular season, Carolina is poised to continue its dominance in the playoffs, where it’s set to face defending NFC champ Seattle in the Divisional Round. As the No. 1-seed in the conference, the Panthers will enjoy home-field advantage, which should help calm their nerves against the playoff-hardened Seahawks, who barely survived Minnesota in the Wild Card game.
The Panthers own arguably the fiercest defense in the league, one that allowed just 322.9 total yards per game in the regular season. They are hoping that their pass rush makes a difference again this coming Sunday just like it did in Week 6, when they beat Seattle 27-23 at CenturyLink Field no less.
Green Bay of Pigs
The NFL Network has decided to air a replay of Super Bowl I for the first time ever this January. Unfortunately for Green Bay fans, that might be the only time they’ll see their team raise any hardware on TV as the Packers are priced +700 and 1,500 to win the NFC Championship and Super Bowl, respectively.
While the Packers beat Washington in the NFC Wild Card Round, they are far from absolving themselves of a catastrophic second half of the regular season. Up against a mighty Arizona team that handed them a 38-8 loss back in Week 16, the Packers need their aerial defense to step up or else be burned anew by Carson Palmer, who had 265 passing yards and two touchdowns with an interception in that game.
