FAVORITES
Chase Elliott (+900)
Elliott is on some kind of a hot roll, as he has won twice over his past three starts. He has also finished inside the top 10 in four of his last five. Last week, he topped the field at the 2022 Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway – his third victory of the season. With 684 points to lead all drivers this season, Elliott should be among the favorites for this coming Sunday’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he has a pair of top 10s in eight total starts.
Ross Chastain (+1000)
Running second to Elliott in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 634 points, Chastain will also look to stay hot. He finished second at the 2022 Quaker State 400 last Sunday, which extended his streak of top-five finishes to three races. He has also a five-race streak of top-10s going, so Chastain is really one of the drivers who should command plenty of attention from bettors. After finishing with back-to-back 25s in his first two career starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, he broke the top 10 for the first time when he placed eight during the 2021 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301.
Joey Logano (+700)
Logano has been a disappointment in his last two starts. After placing 27th at the 2022 Kwik Trip 250, he was not able to finish the race in last Sunday’s 2022 Quaker State 400. Nevertheless, he’s got a pair of wins already this season along with five top 5s and eight top 10s. Logano also has a pair of wins in his career at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, winning the 2009 Lenox Industrial Tools 301 and the 2014 Sylvania 300. Perhaps even more noteworthy is the fact that Logano has finished inside the top 10 in all of this last five starts there.
SLEEPERS
Christopher Bell (+1800)
Here’s what we said about Bell in our 2022 Ambetter 301 sleepers piece:
Bell is precariously sitting on the 16th spot in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series standings, and a win would definitely be a huge sigh of relief for him. With 523 points, Bell will look to hit a home run on Sunday after finishing 19th at the 2022 Quaker State 400 last Sunday. He also has two top 10s in his last five starts overall. There’s also got to be some value to be found on his betting odds, especially when considering the fact that he just finished second in his last appearance at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (2021 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301).
Aric Almirola (+2500)
Here’s what we said about Almirola in our 2022 Ambetter 301 sleepers piece:
The Stewart-Haas Racing driver is still searching for his first win of the season, but he’s come close to scoring one at least a couple of times. Almirola has two top 5s this season. He looked as though it wouldn’t take him a long time to win a race this season when he finished inside the top 10 in each of his first three races of the season, including a fifth-palce at the 2022 Daytona 500. His time could come this Sunday, though, as he has come out strong over his last few appearances at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In fact, he won the last time he started there, topping the field at the 2021 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301.
LONG SHOT
Corey LaJoie (+50000)
LaJoie’s only real shot at making the playoffs is by winning a race, as he is just 31st in the standings with 222 points. That’s unlikely to come this week, though. LaJoie only has a 29.6 career average finish at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. His best finish there in seven career starts was 23rd, twice.
Writer’s Prediction
Joey Logano wins the 2021 Ambetter 301.
