Regular Season Record: 4-6
It’s been rough going lately for Matt Ryan and the Falcons. They have lost their last two games, in both of which they looked absolutely outclassed. Atlanta lost to the Dallas Cowboys on the road in Week 10 (43-3) and to the New England Patriots at home in Week 11 (25-0). But even though things have been tough for the Falcons, this is a team that is at least good enough to handle a team like the Jaguars. Matt Ryan is coming off a bad outing, having thrown three interceptions against the Patriots, but he’s an experienced quarterback and a former league MVP, who will go from dealing with two of the most ferocious pass defenses in the league in Dallas and New England to one of the worst in the form of the Jags’ stop unit that is 31st in the NFL in opponents’ completion percentage.
The Falcons are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games versus a team with a losing home record.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (+1)
Regular Season Record: 2-8
Another week, another loss for Urban Meyer’s Jaguars. The team has now lost two in a row (again), falling prey to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10 on the road (23-17) and to the San Francisco 49ers at home in Week 11 (30-10). Rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence is having difficulties under center for the Jags, who are averaging just 15.9 points and 206.9 passing yards per contest, so far this season. That being said, the Jaguars might just need a small improvement on their offense to be able to keep up with Atlanta’s attack that has simply looked lethargic of late. Running back James Robinson isn’t 100% healthy, but he can still find his spots for big gains against Atlanta’s run defense that is just 25th in the NFL with 123.3 rushing yards per game.
The Jaguars are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games in November.
Writer’s Prediction
The Falcons win, 26-20.
