The Nationals will gun for their fourth win in a row later tonight as they open another series against the Mets. Washington will have A.J. Cole on the mound for Game 1. Cole was last seen on the mound during a 4-3 loss to Colorado on August 27 in which he allowed three earned runs on four hits in 5.2 innings of action. Cole will be matched up against the Mets’ Noah Syndergaard, who is 12-7 with a 2.55 ERA this season. Thor has been impressive of late, as he went 3-0 with a 1.31 ERA over his last three starts.

Writer’s Prediction

New York (-170) wins, 7-4.

Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers (8:05 PM ET)

Line: Houston Astros (+115) vs. Texas Rangers (-125); total: 9.5view all MLB lines

The Rangers have often found a way to beat Houston this season, as evidenced by their 11-2 record against their division rival. With A.J. Griffin getting the starting nod tonight, the Rangers will look to make that head-to-head slate even better. Griffin is 6-3 with a 4.39 ERA this season and will be backed by a Texas offense that delivers 6.35 runs per nine innings to starters. The Astros, meanwhile, will counter with Doug Fister. Fister enters the game with a 12-9 record and a 3.60 ERA.

Writer’s Prediction

Houston (-115) wins, 5-4.
