The New York Yankees returned to winning ways Sunday with a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Houston Astros. They will look to sustain the momentum of that crucial victory when they take on the Astros in Game 2 of their three-game set tonight.
[sc:MLB240banner ]Starting for the Yankees tonight is Ivan Nova (5-5, 3.72 ERA). He allowed three runs on six hits and a pair of walks over five innings Thursday in a 3-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Nova has managed only three quality starts in his last nine appearances. The Astros, on the other hand, will counter with ace Dallas Keuchel (14-6, 2.37 ERA). He is 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA in four August starts. Keuchel hurled seven strong innings Wednesday, giving up just two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five in Houston’s narrow 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Toronto Blue Jays stretched their unbeaten run to three games with a resounding 12-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Edwin Encarnacion went 4 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs to lead the Blue Jays, who scored a franchise-record 36 runs in the three-game sweep. They will look to continue their sizzling form when they take on the Texas Rangers in the opening game of their three-game set.
Pitching for the Blue Jays this evening is Mark Buehrle (13-6, 3.45 ERA). The left-hander lasted just four innings Wednesday against Philadelphia, surrendering four runs on seven hits. It was the first time since May 29 that Buehrle gave up more than three earned runs in a single game.
The Rangers, on the other hand, will have left-hander Derek Holland (1-1, 3.68 ERA) on the mound tonight. He earned the win Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out six in 6.1 innings of action. It was Holland’s first start since missing over four months because of a strained muscle in his left shoulder.
