Although his latest three-game stretch has been inspiring, he didn’t fare well against the Orioles. Gonzalez has a 5.30 ERA while dropping his last three matchups with Baltimore. On the other hand, Baltimore struggled in their last outing with Nelson Cruz (who has hit 0-for-10 against Gonzalez in his career) was left hitless.
Their only hope now rests on Manny Machado who remained hot going 3-for-4 with a homer for the second straight game. Baltimore will look to Machado for run support while their pitcher Wei-Yin Chen (8-3, 4.12 ERA) does his best to finally get a win against Washington. Their offense has been going great for them with Albert Pujols hitingt his 20th homer of the season in the team’s last outing. Hector Santiago (0-7, 4.50 ERA) has been disappointing having failed to win a game since August of last year. Still, the Angels have a prime chance to win as their AL West rivals the Texas Rangers now own the worst winning percentage (.418) in the majors. The only bright spot for the Rangers in recent games is Adrian Beltre, who’s on a 13-game hitting streak.
