The New York Mets extended their winning streak to two games with a heart-stopping 8-7 victory over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. The Mets rallied from an early six-run deficit to move six games clear at the top of the NL East standings. The Mets will look to stretch their unbeaten run even further when they take on the Nationals in the final game of their crucial three-game set later tonight.

Washington, on the other hand, will counter with right-hander Stephen Strasburg (8-6, 4.35 ERA). He has pitched well against the Mets in his career, posting a 2.64 ERA over eight starts. He has been solid for the Nationals since the All-Star break, going 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA. The Nationals have won seven of their last eight games with Strasburg as their starter.

The Baltimore Orioles finally snapped their three-game losing streak with a thrilling 2-1 win over the New York Yankees on Tuesday. Chris Davis hit his major-league-leading 41st home run in the top of the ninth inning to help the Orioles grab just their fourth victory in their last 19 games. The O’s will look to sustain the momentum of their huge victory later tonight when they lock horns with the Yankees in the final game of their three-game set.
Pitching for the Orioles this evening is Ubaldo Jimenez (10-9, 4.24 ERA). He earned a victory over the AL-East-leading Blue Jays the last time out despite issuing a whopping six walks. Jimenez has completed at least six innings only 11 times in 27 starts this year. Baltimore is 4-2 in Jimenez’s last six starts.
The Yankees, on the other hand, will have CC Sabathia (4-9, 5.27 ERA) as their starting pitcher tonight. The veteran will be making his first start for the Yankees since going to the 15-day disabled list because of an inflammation in his right knee. The Bronx Bombers have won five of their last eight games with Sabathia as their starter.
