Can Kevin Durant do it again? Durant exploded for a 49-point triple-double in Brooklyn’s 114-108 home win in Game 5. Durant made 16 of 23 shots from the floor and went 13 of 16 from the free-throw line. He also had 17 rebounds and 10 assists while playing all 48 minutes of the game. With that kind of workload, Durant’s minutes could be managed a bit by Steve Nash this Thursday. Hopefully for the Nets, James Harden will put up a better effort. Harden was understandably cold in Game 5, as that was his first game in a long time. Harden finished with just five points, shooting just 1 of 10 from the field and 0 of 8 from deep. So far in the playoffs, the Nets are averaging 115.0 points on 47.5 field goal percentage and 49.7 percent shooting from behind the arc.
The Nets are 11-1 against the spread in their last 12 games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
Betting on the Milwaukee Bucks (-5.5)
Regular Season Record: 46-26
The Bucks have to get it together. They are not dealing with any major injuries like the Nets, but somehow they keep on falling short in the second round. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 34 points with 12 rebounds in Game 5 but made some errors and questionable decisions in the clutch that greatly helped shift the tide to Brooklyn’s favor. Giannis said that he wants to take on the assignment of guarding Durant, though it will be up to Mike Budenholzer whether he will make the Greek Freak get that job. In any case, the Nets will need their top guns to come out firing. Giannis has to get ample help from Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.4 points on 51.5 percent shooting from the field in the playoffs. The Bucks Bucks are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bucks win, 115-112.
