Regular Season Record: 41-38
Kyrie Irving and the Nets got back in the win column after beating the Houston Rockets at home Tuesday night, 118-105. Irving sizzled with 42 points on 13/24 shooting from the field while Kevin Durant had 18 points. Those two alone make the Nets a huge threat against any team in the league, including the Knicks who have already lost to Brooklyn three times this season. Although it hasn’t been the ideal season for Brooklyn, this team remains a force to reckon with, especially offensively. The Nets are ninth in the NBA with 112.5 points per game and fourth with a 47.4 shooting percentage. Brooklyn arrives at Madison Square Garden later tonight with an 8-3-1 record against the spread in its last 12 games away from Barclays Center.
The Nets are also 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games as the road favorite.
Betting on the New York Knicks (+6)
Regular Season Record: 35-44
Like the Nets, New York prevented a three-game losing skid by winning against the Orlando Magic, 118-88, on the road last Sunday. Prior to that, the Knicks lost to the Charlotte Hornets and the Cleveland Cavaliers back-to-back at home. With the Knicks out of playoffs and play-in contention, don’t expect Julius Randle to make an appearance in any of the team’s remaining games in the regular season. However, the Knicks still have a few dangerous weapons in their arsenal like RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Obi Toppin. Those three players combined for 67 points in the Magic game for the Knicks, whose defense should still command respect,
The Knicks, seventh in the league with just 106.9 points allowed per game, are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 outings as an underdog.
Writer’s Prediction
The Nets win, 120-111.
